Kamryn Hunt Named AVCA All-American

LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 9, 2022) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 17th annual AVCA Girls High School All-America Teams.  Northview senior outside hitter, Kamryn Hunt, has been named Honorable Mention All-American. Hunt is the first Northview Volleyball player to awarded this honor. In her career, she contributed some amazing stats: Matches Played - 98 Sets Played - 331 Attacking - 3003 attempts, 1293 kills, averaging 3.906 kills per set, hitting .275 with a 43% kill percentage. Serving - 756 attempts, 83 aces, with a 87% serving percentage Blocking - 11 total blcoks, 60 of those being solo and 51 being assisted Digging - 765 digs, averaging 2.31 digs per set Passing - 1587 passing attempts with a passing rating of 1.96 with 603 perfect passes A record 1,183 nominations were submitted to the AVCA and MaxPreps, resulting in 300 All-Americans and Honorable Mention All-American selections. Toledo Old Newsboys Honors Kamryn Hunt as Toledo Volleyball Player of the Year

TOLEDO - On November 30, 2022 at the Annual Scholarship Banquet and Paper Sale Kickoff, an evening of tribute and recognition of academic achievement for high school students, Northview senior volleyball player Kamryn Hunt was named the 2022 Toledo Volleyball Player of the Year.  Kamryn was surrounded with two other exceptional nominees, Hannah Howard, senior libero from St. Ursula Academy and fellow NLL athlete, Gretchen Sigman, junior opposite hitter who were both honored as runner-ups at this event. Kamryn was accompanied at the event with her parents, Kati and Kyle, and Northview head coach, Chad Rutkowski and his husband, Kevin Lintjer.   

Five NVVB Players Elected All-District, Rutkowski Coach of the Year

The Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association, District VII, has annouced their All-District teams for the 2022 season and give Northview Wildcats were elected to All-District VII teams: First Team All-District VII Kamryn Hunt, Senior, Outside Hitter Natalie Kerchevall, Junior, Setter/Opposite Honorable Mention All-District VII Sydney Hires, Senior, Outside Hitter Claire Smith, Junior, Middble Blocker Jordyn Pakulski, Junior, Libero In addition, Northview Head Volleyball Coach, Chad Rutkowski, was elected as the 2022 District VII Coach of the Year as the Wildcats have posted a 20-5 overall record and a #12 ranking in the state of Ohio. 

OHSVCA and MaxPreps Polls Released - Week 1

In the first Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Poll and the first MaxPreps Computer Poll of the season, Northview Volleyball comes in at #8 in the Coaches Poll and #6 in the MaxPreps Computer Poll. The OHSVCA Coaches Poll is simply a coaches vote throughout the state of Ohio. There are six (6) polls through the season and they are released every Sunday evening on the OHSVCA website.  The MaxPreps Computer Poll does not poll coaches, sportswriters or fans. Nor does their staff make any judgments on the merits of any individual team. Prior season history, school size and comments on message boards are not considered in the MaxPreps Computer Rankings.  The system utilizes the huge number of game results stored in the MaxPreps database. Generally, the more a team wins, the higher the ranking. However, the system takes into account quality wins (against other highly ranked opponents) and strength of schedule. Northview Captures 2022 District Title

MILLBURY - The third meeting of Anthony Wayne vs. Northview, this time for a District Championship, and it was Northview winning in four sets to claim their 2nd District title in 3 years, their first 20 win season in program history, and the 3rd District title in program history (1997, 2020, 2022).  Leading for Northview was senior outside hitter, Sydney Hires, with a team high 19 kills, hitting. 342, with 11 digs, and 6 aces for the Wildcats. Northview Wins 2022 NLL Championship!

PERRYSBURG - The NLL Championship came down to Northview (12-1) vs. Perrysburg (11-2) for either a share of the title or an outright victory for the Wildcats on Thursday night and Perrysburg was able to secure a share of the title. This is the first NLL Championship for Northview since 2015 now 17-4 (12-2 NLL).  Leading for Northview was lead offensively by junior setter, Natalie Kerchevall, with 12 kills, hitting .462 with 20 assists and 7 digs for the Cats. Senior outside hitters, Kam Hunt and Sydney Hires both had team high 13 kills hitting .125 and .250 respectively and Hunt was able to produce a double-double with 16 digs. Junior middle blocker, Claire Smith, added 6 crucial kills, hitting .250 and freshman middle blocker, Lucy Sauer, added 4 blocks. Kamryn Hunt Selected as All-Ohio Volleyball

COLUMBUS - For the second consecutive year, Northview junior, Kamryn Hunt, has been selected as an Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association (OHSVCA) All-Ohio Honorable Mention award winner. In 2020, Hunt was selected as third Team All-Ohio and is only the 2nd player in Northview history (Megan Baier, 1998 Third Team All-Ohio and 1999 Second Team All-Ohio) to be honored twice. When asked about her award this year, Kamryn said "we certainly have our sights set on 2022 - to win the programs first Regional Championship and to represent Northwest Ohio in the Final Four. Alumna Dukate, Honored as USA TODAY Ohio High School Sports Awards Nominee

Congratulations to Northview Volleyball alumna Emma Dukate ‘21, who is a USA TODAY Ohio High School Sports Awards Nominee! Dukate is one of 12 volleyball student-athletes to be nominated for this prestigious award. Dukate was an essential piece of Northview Volleyball program from 2017 through 2020 earning three varsity letters. As a senior, Dukate was named an OHSAA Honorable All-Ohio selection, as well as 2nd Team All-District and 2nd Team All-Northerns Lakes League.  Dukate has already started the next chapter of her volleyball career at the West Virginia University. Kamryn Hunt and Emma Dukate Selected to All-Ohio

COLUMBUS - As the 2020 season comes to a close for the Northview Volleyball program, two big announcements were made in regard to All-Ohio selections. This year, Northview has two representatives on the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association's All-Ohio Selections.  Kamryn Hunt, class of 2023, outside hitter, was selected to Third Team All-Ohio. Hunt led Northview with 422 kills (a school record for most kills in a season), 293 digs, 42 blocks, 35 aces, passing a 1.78. As a transfer, this was Hunt's first year with Northview. Coach Chad Rutkowski stated "we are so very proud of Kam. This is an honor that we knew she could achieve and something that she was striving for. Northview Crowned as District Champion

SYLVANIA - The most recent time Northview volleyball won a district championship in 1997, none of its current players were even alive. But, after Wednesday night, they will have no trouble remembering the feeling of ending a 23-year drought after topping fellow Northern Lakes League rival Perrysburg in five sets, 23-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-15, 15-13.  Leading for Northview in this victory was sophomore outside hitter Kamryn Hunt with 27 kills, hitting .216, while also posting 18 digs. Also leading for the LadyKats was freshman opposite Natalie Kerchevall with 10 kills and sophomore outside hitter Sydney Hires with 9 kills.  Northview's defense was, once again, outstanding. Northview Defeats Perrysburg, First Time Since 2015!

SYLVANIA - For the first time since 2015, the Northview LadyKats defeated Perrysburg winning three sets to two. In addition, it was a program sweep as the freshman and JV teams also defeated Perrysburg. Leading for Northview was sophomore outside hitter, Kam Hunt, with a team-high 20 kills and 15 digs, hitting .200, her third double-double of the season. Also leading for Northview was senior middle blocker, Haley Catti, with 13 kills, 3 blocks, hitting .379, and sophomore outside hitter, Sydney Hires, with 11 kills hitting .205.  On the defensive side of the ball, Northview had a 86 digs total - Morgan Brixey (18), Madi Taylor (17), Emma Dukate (16), and Hunt (15). Senior setter, Clare Kwiatkowski, dished out 50 assist and had 9 digs.  Northview returns to action on Saturday as they travel to the reigning Division 3 State Champion, Liberty-Benton.

Dukate Commits to West Virginia University

Emma Dukate has committed to West Viriginia University as part of the class of 2021. A 5'7" junior, defensive specialist, Dukate was named 2nd Team All Northern Lakes League and 2nd Team All District VII after the 2019 season. In addition, she has been a member of the Ohio Valley Region High Performance Team in 2018 and 2019. This was her second season of varsity player as she posted some very impressive numbers according to her MaxPreps profile. Outside of the high school season, Dukate plays club volleyball for Premier Academy out of Maumee, Ohio and is a member of their 18-Onitsuka team.  West Virginia finished 12-17 (3-13 Big XII) in 2019 and competes in the Big XII conference, one of the best volleyball conferences in the country with opponents such as Baylor, Texas, and Oklahoma.  Dukate will join the Mountaineers in the fall of 2021 in Morgantown, West Virigina.

Four Volleyball Players Honored as All-NLL Selections

The Northern Lakes League has announced their All-NLL teams for volleyball. This year, four (4) LadyKats have been honored with all league honors.  Hannah Frame, senior outside hitter, was named to First Team All Northern Lakes League after being on Second Team the past two seasons. Hannah is is the first player to reach 1,000 career kills in Northview Volleyball history.  On the season, Hannah is first on team in kills (273) and aces (52), and second on team in blocks (20), digs (199), and receptions (394).   Being honored to Second Team All Northern Lakes League is Emma Dukate, junior libero; Clare Kwiatkowski, junior setter; and Tatum Lazar, senior opposite.  All 2019 Awards will be formally presented at the Northview Volleyball Banquet on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 7:00 P.M. at Northview High School.

LadyKats Dominate Streaks

TOLEDO - The Ohio High School Athletic Association State Volleyball tournament got underway for the LadyKats with their first match-up verse Sandusky High School. Northview was able to take care of this one fairly easy, three sets to zero.  Leading for Northview was the play of both middles - junior Haley Catti and sophomore Izzy Irwin, both with 8 kills hitting ..267 and .462 respectfully. Hannah Frame Records 1,000th Career Kills, First in School History

In the final regular season match of her career, Hannah Frame recorded her 1,000th career kill, the first in school history. Currently, she sits at exactly 1,000 kills with at least one more match remaining in her career as a LadyKat. This record comes on a night when Northview battled Anthony Wayne for a tie for 2nd place in the Northern Lakes League and was victorious, three sets to one.  Frame has been a four year letter winner for the varsity volleyball program and has recorded the following - 122 kills as a freshman, 296 kills as a sophomore, 309 kills as a junior and currently 273 kills as a senior. Hannah has been nominated as Second Team All-NLL (2017 and 2018) and Second Team All-District VII (2017 and 2018). 

Northview Finishes 2nd in NLL; Frame Records 1,000th Career Kill

WHITEHOUSE - In the last regular season match for the Northview LadyKats, they had one goal in mind - completed the NLL season with a respectable second place finish and they did just that with their win over Anthony Wayne, 3-1. At the conclusion of the regular season, Northview moves to 15-7 overall, and 10-4 in the Northern Lakes League. Leading in the victory was senior Hannah Frame who became the first Northview Volleyball player to record 1,000 career kills! Frame lead the LadyKats with 17 kills and currently sits first in the record book with 1,000 career kills, with more matches to play. Also leading for Northview was the defense of sophomore, Madi Taylor, who led with a team-high 17 digs. Also leading the defense was junior libero, Emma Dukate, with 16 digs, and junior defensive specialist, Morgan Brixey with 11 digs.
