SYLVANIA - In the second edition of the Crosstown Showdown, the Northview LadyKats were able to defeat the Cougars in straight sets moving Northview to 11-7 overall, 9-2 in the NLL in second place.
This match-up was the first annual "Cats for Dogs" event where both schools and the entire Sylvania District teamed up to support the Lucas County Pit Crew. Total raised from the event was $1,800.
Leading for Northview was junior outside hitter, Kamryn Hunt, with a team high 14 kills, hitting .333, with 10 digs, 2 blocks and a passing rating of 2.33. Also leading for Northview was sophomore middle blocker, Claire Smith, with 7 kills on 12 attempts, hitting .500 and junior outside hitter, Sydney Hires, with 7 kills, hitting .300, and a team high 6 aces. Sophomore setter, Natalie Kerchevall, posted 21 assists with 3 kills and sophomore setter; Hannah Schoen, had 11 assists; freshman libero, Paige LaBudda, had a team high 14 digs.
Northview returns to the court on Saturday evening as they host Gates Mills Gilmour Academy in their annual Dig Pink match.
