SYLVANIA, Oh - When school is out for summer, it means many things. Picnics. Vacations. Fireworks. And summer camps.
This summer, once again, the Northview Volleyball program and the Sylvania Recreation District partnered up to host a volleyball camp for grades 3-8. The Northview Volleyball camp saw tremendous increase in participation this year with a sold out 66 campers (this is up from 34 campers in 2018). This camp is designed to teach the basics of the sport, and to allow our future Wildcats to have fun! All campers received a schedule poster, a ticket for a future Northview Volleyball match, as well as a t-shirt for participating.
This camp was lead by Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Division 1 State Coach of the Year, Chad Rutkowski and members of the Northview Volleyball program. Northview Volleyball will return 9 varsity team members to their squad in 2019 and will be a favorite to win the Northern Lakes League as well as a District Championship, as they were District Runner-Ups last year.
If you missed this years camp and are an incoming 7th or 8th grade volleyball player, do not worry because Northview Volleyball has another camp being offered in July for those grades. For more information on this camp being held July 29, 30 and 31, 2019, click here and visit the article titled 2019 - Asics Team Camp.

COLUMBUS - Sylvania Northview High School sophomore, Emma Dukate, has been selected to represent the Ohio Valley Region (OVR) in the 2019 High Performance program through USA Volleyball.
At the national level, the High Performance (HP) program is the “pipeline” of USA Volleyball for athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of the sport. It is intended to grow the pool of talented young players who want to compete for a spot on the USA National and Olympic teams. The OVR selects volleyball all-stars, via regional tryouts, to represent region and compete in the international tournament sponsored by USA Volleyball High Performance.
It is an opportunity for the best players in the OVR to play together against some of the best players in the country. The OVR believes in giving great opportunities to the athletes in the region and to compete at this elite level. Junior athletes are given the fantastic opportunity to be coached by some of the top coaches in the region. Playing for and learning from college and high level coaches is incredibly valuable for a young player. The HP Championships also act as an additional opportunity for players with collegiate aspirations to showcase their ability. College coaches recognize that this tournament hosts some of the best players from around the country.
In 2019, the OVR is sponsoring four teams, two boys’ and two girls’ teams for the High Performance Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, FL this summer. The tournament competition starts on July 18 and ends July 22. There will be a team camp for 2-3 days before the teams depart for Florida in order to prepare the teams. The process for juniors getting involved with the OVR HP program is by OVR tryout only. These tryouts are open to any OVR member and are in February/early March for the boys and in April/May for the girls and, for the second year in a row, Dukate will represent Sylvania Northview as a member of one of the girls' teams.
